Most tank trailers with a horizontal structure have a single compartment, made up of one to 4 hoppers to distribute weight of the product. Products best suited for this type of trailer would be bulk cement, lime, fly ash, & frac sand. These will range typically from one, two, or three hoppers in design.

The sanitary or food grade pneumatic tank trailers are most commonly made from aluminum or stainless steel. They are generally larger than the non code tank trailers ranging in sizes 1200-1650 cu ft. They are best suited for sugar, flour, and other food products. These will typically range in three or four hoppers in design.
Vacuum Pneumatic
These vacuum pneumatic tank trailers are commonly the largest pneumatic trailers on the market. You will see people haul plastic pellets in vacuum pneumatic tank trailers. Typically these trailers will have a cooler on the front that is used when loading/unloading the pellets to keep them cool so they do not melt. These are typically around 1650 cu ft and available in four hopper designs.
